Highland Park Kitchen Remodelers, Designers and Contractors

Highland Park Kitchen RemodelKitchens & Baths Unlimited has been remodeling and designing kitchens in Highland Park for the last 30 years.  When it comes to kitchen remodeling, Highland Park has a predominantly contemporary audience.  The attraction to a clean, sleek and streamlined look is definitely a popular trend in this North Shore community.  This is not to say that homeowners in Highland Park don’t like a little detail.  Maybe a kitchen cabinet door style for instance, that lends itself to being a little more transitional.  Either way you look at it, contemporary or transitional, a new kitchen remodel and design will increase the value of your home and help when it comes time to sell.

Full Service Kitchen and Bath Firms

When considering a kitchen remodel, the idea of having one point of contact from start to finish is ideal.  There are two scenarios that demonstrate where it can be less than ideal. The first is when the homeowner wears the hat of general contractor. When a homeowner plays the role of “general contractor” there tends to be a lot of opportunity for mistakes, especially if they haven't managed projects like this before. Unless they are familiar with all the stages and progressions of the project and what works best at what times in the process, there will be mistakes, many of them costly. The second scenario is when hiring a kitchen and bath firm that does only bits and pieces of the project and then passes the baton off to the contractor doing the actual work; there is plenty of room for error.  It is kind of like playing “telephone”… the message never ends up like it started.

Find a kitchen and bath design firm that does it all from start to finish. They will have a system in place and that system will work much better than you trying on the general contractor hat for the first time and learning through all of your own mistakes…potentially expensive mistakes.

When you have a general contractor that also acts as your designer this means there is no place for “he said she said” either.  In addition, your designer will have a comprehensive approach and vision for your new kitchen remodel.  Who better to make sure your vision comes to fruition other than the person who created it with you from scratch?

Selecting a Kitchen Designer

The kitchen remodeling process starts with a kitchen designer.  Selecting the right one for you and your project is vital.  Just like any expensive endeavor, you want to hire a professional that is seasoned, listens, is responsive and has a great track record.  References, testimonials and reviews are a huge resource when determining who you want to partner with on your project.   Your due diligence will definitely pay off in the end.

Knowing Your Neighborhood

An important aspect to consider is if the kitchen and bath firm you are considering hiring has done work in your area.  If so, they will be familiar with the plumbing and electrical codes. Always ask to see the work of the firm you are considering whether that is through pictures or visiting a previous jobsite.   The familiarity of “been there and done that” is always a nice reassurance.
