How Long do Chicago Kitchen Cabinets Take to Design?
We can’t design your cabinets until you’ve had a full consultation, and are 100% sure about your kitchen’s layout, as well as certain storage options. Once that’s in place, we’ll take measurements. At that point, it takes us about two full weeks to design the cabinets, get the final approval from you, make any remaining changes and then get to work.
How long does it take to build custom cabinets?
When the design is complete and the order is signed off by the homeowner, it takes our carpenters roughly eight to twelve weeks to build them. If this timeline isn’t going to work for whatever reason, we can talk about hybrid options – such as using a blend of custom and semi-custom options. This allows you to have the look and features you want, within a shorter time frame.
While we never recommend stock cabinetry, we certainly endorse high-quality, semi-custom options – like Kitchencraft Semi-Custom Cabinets. These cabinets are an ideal option for rush order scenarios or situations where there isn’t a need for super-custom materials, layout or functional features.
Exotic Materials Might Take Longer
Are you interested in more exotic or unusual wood species? Do you have a unique finishing request? If so, these might add time. We’ll be able to let you know exactly what that lead time is when we’ve solidified the order.
For example, Macassar ebony is an exotic wood that makes a powerful statement, particularly in modern and contemporary kitchen designs. You can see it Here in this Contemporary Highland Park kitchen. However, Macassar’s availability and certain trade restrictions make it harder to come by, which could add weeks or months to your remodeling timeline. On the flip side, we can work with you to choose other unusual wood finishes or veneers that aren’t as difficult to come by to expedite the finished kitchen design.
How Long Does it Take to Install Custom Cabinets?
The good news is that once the design is complete and the cabinets are built, the installation goes like clockwork. In almost all cases, we can have your cabinets installed within a week, and that includes moldings. If the kitchen space is larger than normal, will have more than two islands or the cabinets include highly-custom, more complex details – it might take longer.
