Chicago Custom Cabinets Contemporary StylePlanning to remodel or renovate your kitchen or bath? One of the first steps in the process is to find your style so you can select the furnishings and finishes that will make the kitchen your own. To do this, we always recommend browsing other kitchen designs to see what images, colors and furnishings make your heart go pitter-patter.

In most kitchens and baths, the cabinets do the bulk of the work to set the tone since they comprise the majority of the visual square footage in the space. If you like contemporary Chicago custom cabinets, odds are you're interested in a contemporary look for your of your space.

Is Contemporary the Way to Go for Your Chicago Kitchen or Bath Remodel?

Here are some examples of contemporary kitchen designs, all of which used Chicago custom cabinets to set the tone. Even though they are all in the same genre of design, each one has its own, unique personality.

Chicago Custom CabinetsClean and Luxurious. White cabinets, marble countertops and stainless steel appliances and accents are an ideal combination when you want your kitchen to look bright and spacious. And, or course, marble is always a luxurious touch. In this kitchen, the marble is definitely the star and the sleek white lower cabinets and contemporary, stainless steel upper-cabinets blend perfectly with the gray-white countertop tones. Another take on a similar theme, this kitchen went all white, using modern hardware to keep the all-white cabinets from looking washed out. Dark hardwood floors add warmth and interest.

Warm and Woodsy. Contemporary designs can get a reputation for being cold. This wood-rich kitchen design proves otherwise. The flat-panel, dramatically-grained cabinets match the darker tones in the existing wood ceiling accents. The sleek granite countertop - with some green color for interest - adds an additional dose of polished luxury. Here is another example of how to use different wood finishes together for a warm but contemporary feel. Notice how the owners used glass panel doors in the upper-cabinets to break it up a bit.

Contemporary Style - Chicago Custom CabinetsTwo-Toned Designs. Clients are often wary of mixing and matching cabinet styles or finishes, but there are plenty of examples of how this can be done to beautiful effect. In this kitchen, owners chose a rich cherry finish for the upper-cabinets and a natural maple finish for the lower cabinets. The countertops and tile work transition the two, as do frosted glass inserts in some of the cherry panels. In one of our more striking kitchen remodels, we used a wood veneer on half of the cabinets for some serious pop. Wood veneers are typically made from exotic hardwoods with stunning patterns. The remaining white-lacquered cabinets keep the pattern and dark wood tones from overwhelming the modest kitchen space, in addition to maintaining a modern edge. Notice how the owners used hardware on the wood veneers but left the white cabinets without - another nice design touch.
