Northbrook Bath Design & Renovation
Job Summary:
We always recommend that our customers aim for a Northbrook bath design that will last for at least a decade and this requires a longview approach when it comes to style. This customer desired a neutral, timeless look. She wanted her bath to be bright and have a spa-like feel. It was also important that the finished product be low-maintenance and durable.
On the flip side, she wanted to have have some fun by displaying towels in the open cubbies to add a punch of color in an otherwise neutral bathroom. This is a smart way to gain color without having to select a paint color or tile that may only trend for a short period of time. Towels can be changed to suit your current taste or seasonal holidays.
Cabinetry Style:
The clients selected custom Bremtown frameless cabinetry with the Saratoga door style. Nice pillowed - or curved - framing around the door is a beautiful detail, which is why this is one of Bremtown's most popular door style choices. The cabinet details please those who lean towards a traditional look while the frameless option keeps cabinets contemporary.
Cabinet Finish:
An Angel White matte finish was painted on solid maple cabinetry with a lower sheen. Matte finishes lend themselves towards a more a furniture-esque finish rather than higher-sheen finishes, which can be shiny.
Countertops:
The vanity top and 4-inch high backsplashes, shower seat, tub deck and shower curb were all built using Statuario marble. They have a 1.25-inch eased edge, which is basically a square edge. The marble helps to provide that high-end spa-like appearance.
Flooring:
For the flooring, we installed 18x18 white linen porcelain tiles made by Sonoma Valley. The tiles are laid in alignment. We also added new wood base mouldings and used a beautiful soft grey grout. White grout might look great for a minute but it gets dirty quickly, making it a high-maintenance option.
Plumbing Fixtures:
We used Grohe cross lever faucets in a polished chrome finish. Widespread faucets have an upgraded look as opposed to lever-operated faucets more typically found in kids bathrooms.
Lighting:
Three sconces were mounted directly on top of the mirror and complemented by the four recessed light fixtures above. Combining forward lights with downlighting eliminates the possibility for unflattering shadow effects.
